Program Coordinator for Partners in Education Roatan/PIER

 Position Overview

 A dedicated, experienced and self-motivated Program Coordinator is being sought to lead educational initiatives at Partners in Education Roatan (PIER).  This individual will design, implement and evaluate programming that enhances educational opportunities and outcomes for young people on the Island of Roatan.  The candidate will work with local educators, community members, partner organizations, the board of directors and various local and global partners to coordinate programs that provide young people with skills, confidence and opportunities needed for success. 

 

  Key Responsibilities

• Oversee PIER daily operations and coordinate projects to align with strategic goals. 

• Develop and implement community-focused programs, ensuring mission alignment. 

• Manage budgets, resources, and interdependencies, tracking KPIs (Key Performance Indicators). 

• Hire, train, and supervise staff and volunteers in PIER procedures and protocols. 

• Fundraise, apply for grants, and build partnerships with the fundraising committee, local businesses, organizations, and government agencies. 

• Create marketing materials, promote services, and organize events. 

• Prepare and facilitate communications with donors and other stakeholders (which includes - newsletters, emails, social media postings). 

• Maintain facilities, ensuring health and safety compliance.

• Evaluate program effectiveness using MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning), adjusting as needed. 

• Prepare monthly board reports, resolve conflicts, and address community concerns. 

• Demonstrate cultural competency, tech literacy, and community engagement. 

• Excel in grant writing, presentations, and workshops.

• Maintain open communication with board members (both PIER and PFI), respond in a timely manner for requests forinformation, data, or inquiries. 

 

Required skills and qualifications

• Experience in the field of education and/or curriculum development

• Proven ability to develop and manage a budget 

• Experience in fundraising and grant writing

• Exceptional organizational skills

• Strong leadership and management skills

• Ability to manage several projects simultaneously. 

• Ability to work with a variety of social media and technology platforms

• Ability to identify risks and issues and escalate as needed

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills 

• Fluent in both written and spoken English and Spanish

• University degree in related field preferred

• Ability and desire to learn quickly and work with a collaborative mindset alongside a team. 

• Growth mindset with plenty of ability to adapt. 

• Passion for PIER’s mission and vision
