Job Title: Regional Justice and Peace Coordinator

Department: Latin America Ministry Team (LAMT)

Reports To: Regional Director, LAMT, coordinates with Head of Justice and Peace Team

Status: Full-Time

Location: Latin America (Guatemala & Honduras)

Please be advised that while this role is advertised in multiple countries, it represents a single position. Only one (1) candidate will be selected for hire, with the final work location to be determined based on the successful candidate’s residence and organizational requirements.

PURPOSE:

The Regional Justice and Peace Coordinator will be responsible for leading and coordinating advocacy, public engagement, peacebuilding, and reconciliation efforts across Latin America and Caribbean. Working closely with global Justice program staff, peace specialist, regional directors, and country teams, this role will play a critical part in advancing justice initiatives, fostering peace, and ensuring effective coordination of efforts aimed at addressing systemic injustices by mobilizing, and advocating with communities for positive change. The position involves both strategic oversight and operational support, with a particular focus on building relationships with diverse stakeholders, ensuring gender inclusivity, and documenting progress for advocacy purposes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead and coordinate regional Justice and Peace initiatives, ensuring alignment with global priorities and regional context.
  • Collaborate with global Justice program staff to ensure regional strategies complement global justice goals, including public engagement, advocacy, peacebuilding, and reconciliation efforts.
  • Ensure the integration of justice and peacebuilding approaches into regional and country-level programs and strategies.
  • Facilitate capacity-building workshops and training sessions for regional and country teams and partners, ensuring that staff have the tools and knowledge to address justice issues effectively.
  • Participate in WR Anti-Racism and Reconciliation Team.

Advocacy & Public Engagement

  • Design and implement advocacy campaigns that raise awareness on critical justice issues, including gender equality, good governance, and human rights.
  • Facilitate public engagement initiatives that mobilize diverse faith-based and secular stakeholders, including grassroots organizations, governments, NGOs, and the private sector, to build support for justice and peace initiatives.
  • Foster a broad network of regional advocates and allies to amplify justice messaging and create momentum for change.

Peacebuilding & Reconciliation

  • Coordinate peacebuilding efforts within the region, ensuring the inclusion of marginalized groups and facilitating processes that promote reconciliation and healing in post-conflict or divided societies.
  • Build relationships and partnerships with local and international actors involved in peacebuilding, ensuring complementarity of efforts and sustainable impacts.

Relationship Building

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with faith and secular leaders, organizations, and key stakeholders at the grassroots, national, and regional levels.
  • Engage in collaborative work with diverse actors to foster mutual understanding and promote shared justice and peace objectives.
  • Navigate and manage complex political, social, and cultural dynamics to ensure the success and sustainability of justice and peace initiatives.

Documentation & Advocacy Case Studies

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of regional justice and peace initiatives, including case studies, success stories, lessons learned, and impact reports for advocacy purposes.
  • Regularly contribute to global advocacy efforts by compiling regional data, stories, and case studies that highlight both successes and challenges in the region.
  • Create content for internal and external communications, including reports, articles, blogs, and social media posts, to promote regional justice and peace initiatives.

Comprehensive Justice Assessments

  • Lead and conduct regional justice assessments to identify critical issues affecting marginalized communities, with a particular focus on gender equality and inclusive justice.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to improve regional justice programs based on assessment findings, ensuring that interventions are responsive to local needs and aligned with broader global justice priorities.

Gender Capacity Building

  • Integrate gender-sensitive approaches into all regional justice and peace initiatives, ensuring that women and marginalized groups are central to the design, implementation, and evaluation of justice programs.
  • Actively participate in Global Gender Group and Gender Community of Practice, lead the 16 days of activism against Gender Based Violence in the region.

Reporting & Evaluation

  • Lead the effort to monitor and evaluate the impact of justice and peacebuilding activities across the region, providing regular updates and reports to both regional directors and global Justice program staff.
  • Lead the preparation of annual and quarterly reports on progress, challenges, and outcomes of regional justice and peace efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience in justice, peacebuilding, advocacy, or human rights work across diverse contexts.
  • Experience monitoring and evaluating programs, particularly in justice, peace, or gender‑related work.
  • A strong commitment to social justice, peace, and human rights.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate gender‑sensitive and inclusive approaches into programs.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering training and capacity‑building for staff and partners.
  • Creative problem-solver with a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity and adaptability.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in law, international relations, political science, peace studies, or related fields.
  • Experience working in faith-based organizations or cross-sectoral partnerships.
  • Knowledge of regional political landscapes and key justice and peace issues.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Fluency in English and Spanish with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
